Building a Great Culture for Aruna
Years of experience could have been very useful for my current job.
This is the story of Yunita Maksudi, Head of Human Resource at Aruna.
Years of experience could have been very useful for my current job. At the very least, I can lead my department in a clear direction. It is true, I have been working in various lines of businesses. From manufacturing to fintech both in corporate and startup settings, I think the challenge is still very similar.
I graduated from Universitas Padjajaran years ago. From then, the Human Resource Department seems to be my professional path. Challenge remains the same, but from my day to day work, I know that working with different people gives you an opportunity to understand different perspectives. That is what makes my job interesting.
I joined Aruna when the number of staff was about to reach 50.
It was fairly medium or small scale business when I first joined though. At that time, I was one of very few people who understand the system of Human Resourcing. Most of my colleagues were focusing on business development, branding, marketing, etc. So joining Aruna was quite challenging in so many ways.
Developing a “New System”
It may sound overrated when we hear it. But it is true, more or less, when it comes to the Human Resource Department. Every company needs one. A good system will somewhat guarantee that its business runs smoothly.
I was working for an Ecommerce once. It was one of the leading companies in the field. So I found that the challenge was huge; As a recruiter, I have to make sure that all staff members get an equal opportunity to push their career a bit further. Not a simple task for sure, and it took me 2 years to get a better understanding in a greater perspective.
For that purpose, a good system is a must.
As a fairly young startup Aruna needs a learning system. We want to hire the best of the best people to get our job done. This startup has been getting bigger with almost 200 people involved in the work every single day. How can we manage to keep the pace whilst at the same time we want to maintain our 3P value.
Yes, it must be in line with the 3P value
First thing first, it is a Play. We don’t want to make ‘work’ sounds like work. It is a play, so it has to be fun. Yet, we want to do all tasks with a clear purpose. And we want to bring all our potential to the job. All these have to be applied during this pandemic situation, when everybody works from home.
But this situation will not last forever. There will be a time when we get to our head office in Jakarta, hopefully in the near future. When the time comes, we want to be in a good warehouse or workshop station, or whatever fancy name you call it. As Head or HR, surely I want to provide a good working atmosphere for everyone in Aruna.
In doing so, I propose a proper learning system. This is, in fact, an important way to create a good working culture so that we can work together in a futuristic setting.
